  1. To Ross, Robby, Sasha and families,
We were really sorry to hear of Tony’s death. She was our sister and our good friend, loyal and faithful to us through all these years – always kind, generous and classy. She was intellectually brilliant, winning the Dominica Island Scholarship in 1961 (following in the footsteps of her illustrious uncles). I accompanied her on her field trips around Dominica as she recorded French-patois stories for her master’s thesis. It was then that I was struck by her generosity and incisive intellect, as she sought more in-depth clarity about some patois story from one story-teller or another. But that was not all. When our interviews went into lunch-time, she willingly shared her sandwiches with the story-tellers, and showed a genuine interest in their lives and that of their families. In addition, despite her intellectual bent, she had a fine sense of humor, embracing Louise Bennet when we were in Jamaica, and a “Go Benton Go” horse skit in Barbados, to both of these, she insisted we come along with her. An exceedingly interesting and generous woman she was. All your happy memories of her will always bring you comfort. We too will miss her. May she rest in peace.
