Uncle John. I will always remember you. A gentleman, a scholar, a sailor. Be careful up there as men want your tiller. Love you xoxo
Condolences too the Still family. Uncle John was a great man and I have such fond memories of him. He will be missed by many people and especially me. May he rest in peace.
Dear Grandad,
As I sit here in England, my heart aches at the thought of not being able to attend your funeral in Barbados. The distance feels immeasurable, and the void left by your passing is deeply felt.
I want to express my gratitude for everything you’ve given me – not just as my grandfather, but as the person who believed in me enough to offer my first job as a mechanic. You gave me more than just a job; you instilled in me a sense of purpose and skill that I carry with pride. The memories of tinkering generators , the smell of oil and the satisfaction of a job well done, all come flooding back.
Sailing on the Morning Mist with you remains one of the most blissful experiences of my life. The wind in my hair, the gentle rocking of the boat, and the sound of the waves were a perfect reflection of the peace and happiness you brought into my life. And, of course, the introduction to the world of rum and soda – a light-hearted initiation into adulthood that I will always remember with a smile.
I may not be there to bid you a final farewell in person, but please know that my thoughts are with you and our family. You’ve left an indelible mark on my heart, and I will carry your lessons, your love, and your spirit with me always.
Rest in peace, Granddad. Until we meet again.
With love and gratitude,
Jude Clermont (First Grandson)
